Bale needs to tone down the gritty ass Batman voice. I could hardly understand him at some points.

Dark Knight is the first movie I have ever seen where massive hype didn't backfire even the slightest. Everything I heard, everything I read (even minor spoilers) did not prepare me for how good this movie was.
I can't say that it's better than Godfather II but this IS the Godfather II. That's the best way to describe DK to Batman Begins...and probably how the 3rd Batman movie will not be as good as this one (just like Godfather3).

It's computer enhanced to sound that way. Don't blame Bale.
I just got back from the film and I was blown away. It was much darker than I expected. I probabaly wouldn't take little kids to see it. Ledger as Joker was far better than I expected. He wasn't my first pick for the role. I was pulling for Brody, but Ledger won me over without a doubt. His take is definately different (and substantially darker) than Nicholsons. The whole mood of the film is dark but I think it fits well with the mood created by Batman Begins. The two fit well as pieces of a puzzle and I look forward to seeing where this franchise goes next. I'll probably see it again in the theaters. It's long at 2 1/2 hours so go easy on the beverage. There aren't any good spots to take a break. There was nothing I didn't like about the film. Well, like some others have pointed out, maybe the Dawes character.

If I had to pick one flaw in DK it would be what people are calling the "Venomication of Two-Face". That is, introducing the villain only to kill him off in 20 or so minutes.
I was able to forgive this for 2 reasons:
1)No doubt his scenes had to be edited out to keep this under 3 hours!
2)Two-Face has no purpose after getting revenge on the crooked cops. He was given a gun, got revenge, then died. It would have been cheap for him to go into the sequel turning into a common murderer...Dent was much too good for that.

I don't even think Dent wanted to live. I could have seen him become almost an anti-Batman though. A merciless vigilante who truly plays by no rules at all. Might have made for an interesting contrast down the road. Batman taking the fall for Dent's murders was an interesting touch.

i'd give it a 5/10.
bale's voice as batman is still unforgivable.
ledger blew me away as joker. absolutely phenomenal.
dent was AMAZING and gordon was pretty good.
didn't care for bale, alfred or fox.
little too preachy in some places and the ending was atrocious.
also it's still "too real" which isn't a good thing. in the cartoon and comics batman melts in and out of shadows(burtons batman played with this)...bale's batman is just a man in a batsuit...no magic, no mystery.
and enough with the james bond scenes with bale getting his shiny new gadgets explained to him.
also i'm scared they might cast maggie g as wonder woman since from some shots she looks like a teenage linda carter(tho not nearly as stunning).

Just got home and I must say, this movie is absolutely incredible!!!!!!! WOW!
As much as I thought Batman Begins sucked, this movie made up for it.
This is by far the greatest superhero movies ever and YES one of the best overall movies I've seen Period.
I was absolutely mesmerized by this movie
Christian Bale totally redeemed himself in my eyes as I found him to be very good in this movie. I still think Batman Begins was a letdown due to the horrible villain. Everyone Protagonist needs an equal Antagonist and thats what u got in this movie.
The way the Joker is done in this movie though, he is like an Anti Hero but I actually was cheering for him. Its because he actually had REASONS for the things he done. Kind of like in the Saw movies where everyone leads to their own fate etc.
He had his reasons and most were pretty dead on. Especially his social commentary on human beings.
Heath Ledger was so phenomenal I dont even know where to begin. When I watch Movies, I really study actors *which is why I think Johnny Depp is the greatest*
I like seeing how someone OWNS the character. So many read lines off the page, they act, they use their personality etc.
Ledger WAS THE JOKER. I guess thats how u can say it and why his shits all over Nicholson's and kicks it off the face of the earth
when u watch Nicholson, it looks like Jack Nicholson playing the joker. voice, face, walk, etc etc
With Ledger, I mean every idiosyncracy, the way he speaks, the way he flicks his tongue like a serpent, his mannerisms, I mean the GUY was living this character and it explodes off the screen.
Story was excellent, character build up was amazing, shocking twists i didnt see coming and the ending with Two Face is maybe the only somewhat weak area *still not sure what happend??*
The pencil was hilarious but I cracked up the loudest when he was holding Rachel out the window and Batman says "Let Her Go" which the joker replied "Poor CHoice of words" hahahahhhahahahahahahahhaha
AM i the only one that got watery eyed at the end of this movie? I've loved and followed Heath Ledger's career since 10 Things I hate About You and I just couldnt help but reflect and feel horrible of the life he had ahead of him. His final scene got me choked up and Im not afraid to admit that.
