So I am guessing he wore the jacket because he thought he might end up at the Polar station where those Portuguese guys were measuring magnetic activity?

That, or wherever he was prior to that was cold.

I took the girlfriend to see The Kids in the Hall last night, so I missed the episode and just caught it this morning. AWESOME. Smoke monster = FTW and Ben has officially become my new favorite character, replacing Locke. I don't love him like I have Locke, but I love learning more about him and seeing how vastly complicated his character is.
And I don't find it a coincidence, whatsoever, that after BKV comes on to help write Lost, the series starts getting better than it ever has been.

Have you considered the notion that Ben ended up exactly where he meant to, but because of the change in time and the uncertainty of change in the Earth's formations, he was prepared to show up in Tunisia during a time when it was ice/cold?

What about Ben turning into a bad ass in this episode. He clubs a guy, uses him as shield, steals his AK and shoots the other guy dead.
He was ready to club the doorman too.
Ben has become the best character on the show. He is definitely the most interesting. The whole show revolves around him.

And can you imagine that they originally weren't going to do anything with his character? Originally he was just a minor character until they saw how he can act. He isn't my favorite character(just because of the whole evil thing) but like you said he is one of the most interesting.

His character has become incredibly complex. The smoke monster, the clubbings, the revenge, I'm loving it..

I was pumped for LOST the first season, but after 6 episodes i realized that NOTHING will change. Each episode just brings false hope and I am not retarded enough to fall for it.

It's possible, but besides the whole 31 minute difference from the freighter to the island, that's the only kinda-sorta from of time-traveling they've even shown in the show. But they've hinted at teleporting with the rabbit and the bear, so if those 2 mammals can go thru with it, I'm assuming a human could go thru it as well.
But Ben is a badass either way! When they first introduced him in season 2, I didn't really like him at all. But in season 3 when they started showing more and more about the Others and we got to see how smart, controlling, and manipulative Ben really is, I became a fan. He's now up there with Locke, Sawyer, and Desmond in my book as far as favorite characters.
I talked to one of my friends back home last night after the episode, he's real big on picking out motifs and whatnot, but he told me Hurley's line when they're playing Risk that "Australia is the key to the game" is a big future storyline hint. It'll be interesting to see if it's true.

Charles Widmore is Australian, although I would swear his accent is from South Africa. But the actor's Aussie as well.

I knew the actor playing him was Australian, but wasn't sure if Widmore was supposed to be or not. His accent always threw me off, I've never been able to place it exactly.
