Like I said, he's making a point, just not in the most precise of ways (due to being drunk). Jack is basically waging his job against the the hospital's claims of his condition (hammered); he tells them to go find his father (which they can't; that's the point) and if he's as drunk as he is (which is an impossibility; he's dead; this is the drunk part talking) he can be fired (which can't happen).
The idea that he is asking a hospital to find his dead father seems a bit strained. When one says "go find ______" the idea is that the person is relevant to the situation. Not that you can't find the father to judge it. That's silly as hell.

We'll find out, at most, in two years though.

Just like Walt was seen a number of times, even as a teenager. What about Michael constantly seeing Libby last night? Is she still alive?

What about when Boone comes back? Is he alive? He was buried on the island.
Very possibly.

The revealation that the island can interfere causally in suicide and other efforts seems to imply a power over life and death.

Meds and alchohol will screw you up. But who knows you could be right. If they are all getting off the island this year then we will know at least by the first couple episodes of next season if not sooner.

It was a good episode.

Tom is gay...did not see that coming and great memory by Markulous who remembered Tom's comment to Kate.

Michael's inability to kill himself was great. Another survivor whose life back in the real world is complete shit. Seems the island does not like people to escape on their own terms.

Ben sending Karl and Rousseau into an ambush is all we can assume at this point because that is so Ben. I hate cowards and I am developing a definte dislike of Alex. "I AM BEN"S DAUGHTER! DON't SHOOT!" I hope it is Whitmore's people and they torture her ass.
man, tom stated he was gay in series 3 when tell kate then she isnt his type!

I remember when Jack made that comment about his dad being drunker than he was, the doctor he was talking to looked at him like he was nuts. Then he told him to let it go and that he wasn't doing the surgery on that chick.

I don't think Christian is alive but with all the ghost and visions I think he will have some kind of impact on the future. Wasn't he sitting in Jacob's cabin at some point this season?

He did not come out and say it. He handed Kate some clothes and when she hesitated to start putting them on, Tom laughed and said something like, "Don't flatter yourself Kate, you are not my type anyway."

Back then I took it as his "type" being the Others not men in general. Hindsight being 20/20 his comment makes sense now.

I am also of the belief that he is deeper involved with the island than has been revealed.
This is essentially a rhetorical post, but dude, haven't you ever been wasted? When you're depressed + smashed, making sense isn't exactly at the forefront of your behavior. Rambling, talking out of context, saying things that do and don't make sense... these are the attributes of even the lightest form of alcoholism, which Jack is far from.

EDIT: I didn't even think how the combo of alcohol plus the meds Jack was abusing would make his state even more wacky.

jacks dad is dead.

He was wasted and high when he made those comments and the other doc gave him a really weirded out look as if thinking (his dad is dead).

It's safe to assume that he is dead.
