The other island scenarios Ive heard are that it is in Antarctica in a bubble/forcefield....which is why no one can get there and they need a submarine to get under the ice. Also the forcefield needs to be powered down for planes to get there which is what happened in season 2 when the plane dropped food on the island.

That had crossed my mind as well. However the only thing that stopped me from thinking that was that the pilot had said about there flight plan. They said they were about 1000 miles off course. But there is no way to get within 1000 miles of Antarctica when your part way to LA from Sydney.

He said "about" 1000 miles which could have been off. I guess we will have to wait and see, but this still seems like the most feasible option at the moment.

That could possibly explain the polar bears on the island

Well from the tip of Australia to Antarctica is almost 3000 miles so he would of had to start flying in the wrong direction from the get go.

I think that pilot might have said that they turned around at some point then got blown off but I don't know if that means anything or not.

Not really.
There aren't any Polar Bears in Antarctica, they're all in the Arctic.

Anyway, I'm sure that was explained in one of the hatches. They were viewing one of the Dharma videos that basically states that Dharma brought Polar Bears to the island just to conduct some weird experiment to see what would happen to a Polar Bear in a tropical climate.

Man, if I was a Polar Bear on a tropical island I'd be well pissed off. That would be some uncomfortable bullshit.
I'd be on a goddamn rampage, looking for someone to shave me. No wonder the ones in Lost are so aggressive.

Yeah honestly I'm not sure it'd be able to survive. If it didn't have an easy source of food it would overheat trying to hunt. Ah well the show still rocks.
