I pretty sure that Mr. Eko is the only major character to leave the show not as a result of a DUI or crime. I think it was part his characters fate in the writers eyes, but moreso the actors choice. I remember reading something about it a year or two ago, can't exactly remember if it was something to do with his family or he just wanted off to pursue other gigs. But I don't think his departure was something crime related.

Yep, I just looked up the article again and that was it. He asked to be written off the show after both his parents died.
Eko was one of my favorite characters too. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a pretty interesting guy once you start reading about him. This is pretty cool, what his name means: Ade- the crown, wale- has come home, Akin- warrior, nuoye- of chieftaincy, Agbaje prosperity and wealth. Born in London, fluent in 4 languages. And I'd completely forgotten that he was Wombosi in The Bourne Identity. It's too bad he's not in more work, he's a good actor.

Forgotten about that role too. Harold Perrineau (Michael) was on Oz too. I didn't follow the entire series, but that was a wacky show.

Yeah, he was pretty awesome in OZ, I was delighted to see him in Lost but pretty bummed out when he died, it was like "wait a minute the first time he meets the smoke monsters nothing happens and the next one he gets smoked?".

He did have an awesome badass back story though. I enjoyed his flashbacks a lot.
