That is probably why the settlements are larger than what you would expect them to be. On top of the 10's of millions they received they got a "Fly for Free" pass, which we know Jack uses every weekend in future.
My guess is that we find out Widmore owns Oceanic.

Yeah, I had a feeling that Oceanic came out with all the b.s. about crashing here and drifting to this island and rafting to here and yada yada. But still I doubt the 6 of them told them about any other possible survivors, and I'm wondering both why and how they all came to agree on that issue.
And I've never really thought about Widmore owning Oceanic, but that's a damn good theory. That would explain how he just got a Oceanic plane to bury deep into that ocean canyon. And the guy seems to have more money than God, so that would make his ownership and the settlements very plausable.

Maybe Hurly gave her 100 million from the lottery that he doesn't want. That would leave his mom and dad with 50 million. Then gave her his settlement.

I asked myself that same question last night, "why load up nothing but the nobody survivors to take them to the freighter?" And that's the answer, blow up that boat and you eliminate the need for survival and explaniation of all those people. I've been thinking that Desmond would die, which is unfortunate since he's one of my favorite characters, but with him being on that boat, I still see that happening.
And on another note, does anyone here think Sawyer will end up dying before the series is over? I doubt he'll die in the finale, but unfortunately I have a feeling that he won't make it until the end of the series. Not sure how or under what circumstances, probably while trying to help out someone else, but I think he'll die.

Possibly, but I think Hurley is such and nice and compassionate character that we wouldn't give anyone his lottery money since he fully believes its cursed. That'd be like passing his curse onto Sun, and I just don't see him doing that. I think he'd rather just let is sit in an account to rot away then use or pass it to someone else.

Didn't her father's auto manufacturing corporation have major political clout and the ability to conduct hits with impunity? Sounds like a multi-billion dollar auto conglomerate (Hyundai, Kia, etc.). It's going to take more than powerball winnings and a generous cash settlement to buy a controlling stake in a major South Korean corporation. Like, tens of billions of dollars in capital. That scene was absurd and a little unnecessary imo.

I asked this same question a couple pages back. It does not make sense on the face of it. The only reasonable answer is that Paik Industries is not as successful as we have assumed, and is really just a smaller corporation worth less than $100,000,000.

Isnt Sawyer alive in one of Jacks flash forewards? When hes having a drunken fit with Kate?

I suppose I will accept this explanation, and ignore the fact that it is impossible to be an auto manufacturer without billions of dollars of industrial capital, technology and engineering offices, marketing branches, and steal/aluminum contracts.
