How many episodes are there per season? I thought I read somewhere they took it down from 23 to 13 or something, or did I dream that?

remember the episode where ben wakes up in the sahara desert, with a possible gunshot wound, and he seems to not know where he is? doesnt that look like the same powers desmond has?
so assuming that ben has the same powers he needs to have a constant, like penny for desmond...and i think ben's constant is widmore. thats why ben tells him he can't kill him
"i can't kill you, you know that"
anyway, i think this is possibly the only theory about lost that i came up with that might be right haha.
i decided to just go with the flow of the show and stop asking myself so many questions

Whoa... that's a very good theory. I never thought of that before.

That is an intriguing theory. I assumed Ben couldn't kill him because Ben knew Widmore was alive in 2007, so it would be impossible to kill him in 2005, which was when Ben confronted him.
I think Desmond travels within his own mind while Ben travels in reality. I think that's why in one of his flashbacks, Desmond confronted Charlie playing guitar outside Widmore's building, yet in Charlie's flashback of the same event, Desmond was not present.
Back to Ben traveling to 2005, I question why Nadia's funeral was occurring then. When Sayid first met Rousseau on the island and she asked him who was in the photo he had, Sayid said Nadia was dead. We all know the plane crashed 9/22/2004, so why would her funeral be in 2005? Could Sayid have been sent to the island by someone and thus have knowledge of the future?

I'm not positive, but I was thinking that Sayid told Rousseau that Nadia was dead because he hadn't seen her in years, so he was just under the assumption that she was dead. He told Ben something along the lines of "I spent years trying to find the woman I loved, and now she's dead and I have nothing else to live for". And that interaction definitely happened after the rescue.
I personally think that once Sayid was all over the news as part of the Oceanic 6, that brought Nadia out from wherever she was and that's how the two of them reunited. I could be wrong, but I really think that's how the two of them came back into each others lives.

Nadia was living in the US. (Locke did work on her house)
My guess would be that Sayid assumed she was dead.

I don't remeber Ben being given the same test as we just saw with Locke. What episode was that?

Yeah, it was Locke, not Ben.
I think he was confused.
But yeah, it is smokey, says I. Not the hatch exploding.
