I agree, and I'm pretty certain now that Christian is alive. How else would Jack know he's related to Aaron, which I assume he knows based on his comment to Kate that she isn't even related to him? Prior to crashing on the island, Claire had only met Christian once and she stormed out before learning his name. So since she didn't know Christian's identity, she couldn't have told Jack they share the same father. Christian must have told Jack.

This could be reconciled by Jack and Claire simultaneously seeing the same apparition and figuring out their relationship either through communication between each other or with his ghost.

Well Jack did tell Kate "You're not even related to him" (talking about Aaron (sp?) and Kate did not respond. Plus I read on some insider blog that Jack and Claire do find out how they're related.
