That is a bit of a reach. I don't know the background and history on "namaste", but it's it a Hindu or Buddist salutation for hello or welcome? I always figured that sign was there on the peer as a form of a welcome sign for all the new people. And it fits into the hippy and spiritual motif set by all the early Dharma workers that they've shown so far.
I've always assumed that the smoke monster is a form of security that was natural to the island before anyone even stepped foot onto the rock. And after seeing those hieroglyphics, I really think its some old form of mass that is simply there to help protect the island from what it feels are possible dangers.
I just hope that it is eventually explained in the series. I'll be pissed if the series ends without the true history on the monster being revealed. Or the history and significance of the leg statue at the beach.

the theory may be a little off about the monster but it looks like it's right about Ben being immortal ( and Richard too.. ) because of time travelling
the hieroglyphs are weird too, so if there's a time machine it's very old or extra terrestrial or something

I think that's already been more-or-less answered. For the layman's terms, it's like Shang Tsung's island in Mortal Kombat, where Sonya checks her compass and it's polarization is all outta whack. Lame comparison, but an effective one.

Namaste means "God in me salutes God in you". It is common in Hinduism and Buddhism as noted. It is not a clue to "its a man" or anything - it fits into the notion of the dharma initiative.
The Island is itself alive, it would seem. And from what we can gather, has had a civilization on it, as revealed in the huge statue, and now in the heiroglyphs.
Ben is not "immortal" though. He has had a finite age. Somewhere around 40ish.

Oh, also:
It is quite clear that relativistic effects are at play ing etting to the island. This implies that it is somehow detached or in a great gravity well.

I agree, the island is definitely alive. I count the island as much of a character to the show as Jack, Kate, Sayid, Ben, etc. And I've often thought that some sort of civilization or group of people lived on the island at some point, which would point to why the statue and ruins area is there.
I wonder what the rest of the statue looked like, all we've seen is a leg with 4 toes, I wonder if the body of the statue was human or something abstract.

Indeed. As Sayid said:
"I do not know what is more disturbing: That there is a statue on the island or that it only has four toes..."
It's something that is the great mystery.
But yes, the Island is a character. Most definitely. A most magnificient abstract character, that has brought together people who for all intents and purposes, even if not in an actual purgatory, are in a ****phoric one from how the island works. Consider that all are people in need of redemption and where the laws of life/death and normal/abnormal have been suspended to accomodate this.
Locke fucking raised from the dead was especially poignant.

That was a cool episode. Who'd of known that Jack would of proposed to Kate?
And now it's confirmed that Carl and Danielle are dead.
I still don't know what to think about Jack's dad coming back all over the place...
