The Legality of Full Contact Sports

Hi there.

Tried posting this in the bare knuckle forum but I was told it wasnt quite the right place for it (possibly!)

Anyway, I am a fan of combat sports and believe in its continued existence.

Currently, I am about to start my dissertation for my law degree and I was wondering if any of you guys could help with any pointers....

I am titling the dissertation, "The Legality of Full Contact Sports" and I want to illustrate why MMA, boxing, muay thai etc IS different to a street fight and that the rules in place etc make it a far more civilised endeavour than many people make out.

What I am looking for help with is.....

The law as it stands in your country (wherever that may be) with regards to assault/ self defence/ duelling.

Any help at all would be great!

Oh, btw, if Fedor isnt in the OWGP, CroCop by LHK all the way!

First of all it is hard to claim assault if you volunteered and fought back yourself. Now I suppose if someone went berserk and started breaking a whole bunch of rules assault charges could be filed. A few years back some hockey got charges pressed after he hit some hard from behind. As far as dueling laws I say we need to bring them back in vogue, that should shut the whiners up.
