Just quit my job

I just quit my job and this is the first time I've ever quit a job with out giving them two weeks notice. I feel guilty, but they have never been particularly friendly to me, so I was expecting to get chewed out on the phone when I quit. Instead the guy was nice as hell and said not a problem, wished I could stay, said let him know if there is anyway he can help me blah blah blah. Well, no one probably cares about this thread, but its a weird experience for me. I have good work ethic and I don't like screwing my employers (I was scheduled for this saturday and Sunday.

Oh well. Grad school comes first. I have 7 research papers due by the end of this month which is about 70-90 pages of writing and I....well....I haven't started.

Weird you would start a thread and make a post about a job, but fail to mention anywhere what the job is.

It would have been a lot cooler if you went postal on them instead.

if your boss works for a corporate giant, then they probably wouldn't care. i quit on the spot for pizza hut a little while ago, and my manager didn't give a fuck. in fact, before i left, he said something along the lines of "so, you still coming over to drink on friday?" if it doesn't affect their paycheck, they usually won't care.

I was a crisis counselor for 2 years, I stopped doing that because they wanted me to work full time during grad school. So I left to get a part time job. My parents are paying my way through grad school (yes I'm a lucky human being and I know it and I am greatful for it), so I got a job with benifits so that they wouldn't have to pay for that. Unfortunately, you need to work there for three months part time 24 hours a week for benifits to kick in. It became apparent very early on that I couldn't do 24 hours a week and still do good in grad school so I dropped down to 16 hours a week. Thus the very reason I got the job, for benifits, is no longer an option. All this job pays for is my Tuesday night drinks (I go to a bar on Tuesdays cuz wednesday is my only day off). So I quit.

I'm in graduate school for clinical psychology. My dream is to teach college (community college level cuz I will only have a masters), do therapy preferably for adults going through divorces, break-ups, or that have social phobia's (that part of the dream may change further into grad school), write a few books, get an apartment in San Francisco (My favorite city, not everyones, but definitley mine and no I'm not gay or a hippie but I do intend on owning a hybrid), and travel the world. Somewhere in that mix I'll fit a significant other in, so long as she doesn't get in the way of my dreams or I in the way of hers.
