Why did you wait 8 months to make your first post?

How do you define "Pussy." If it makes you a pussy for not laughing at girls for being weak little things and randomly putting dudes in choke holds, maybe you are becoming a pussy. I personally wouldn't consider you a pussy for those qualities, but I guess you define it for yourself.

Anyway, I doubt you are a pussy now. I haven't served so all I can compare it to is this. After undergrad I took two years off before grad school. I was worried I had lost a lot of good intellect and writing ability and would struggle in grad school. But as soon as I started, it all came right back. So point is, its still there when its needed. And I assume your inner bad ass (however you define it) is still in there when you need it. I say enjoy the time you don't need to be a bad ass all the time.

Just relax. It takes a long while to re-adapt to a civilian lifestyle. I was there during the initial invasion and again in 2005.

Get yourself a "basic daily routine" whether it's running in the morning, going to the gym at the same time every day, etc. Make sure you stick to something EVERYDAY, until you feel comfortable in your skin again.

Personally I went to a bunch of sessions with a VA shrink. If you qualify for any treatment I suggest you look into it. It helped a lot to talk to someone about the strangeness of being back in the real world.

Maybe this explains why many vets go into MMA?

Something extremely hard to keep their focus up?

I went out to the bar the first friday I was home and and had a great time, made out with a bunch of girls had alot of confidence and wanted to truely have fun which I did.

Well I've been home for about a week now and things are strting to settle, I still have my military discipline and i'm awaiting a possible deployment. Besides that though I've lost all the desire to live wild and have fun like the first few days I was home.

I miss all the guys at the barracks, all the guys that got picked on including myself. Just missing being one of the guys. Now that I'm home I'm feeling like im getting softer and softer each passing day and I'm getting worried. When i first got back and while on active duty I would see other guys and putem in a choke hold or just whatever, when i passed by females I would laugh and what not cause they are weak little things. Now i''m starting to feel like a pussy again. WTF do I DO WITH MYSELF!

I'm thinking about joining a BJJ gym nearby and getting into it, hopefully to get that attitude back. I don't know why I feel like i'm getting softer but I can tell. I'm getting paranoid of people again and going back to my old ways. I must do something now. Anyone been in this kind of position before? Even on different terms.. Discuss
Perhaps it's just that you're not used to having free unstructured time. I've never been in the army but I've worked in youth corrections a number of years where the inmates lives are set from the time they get up until the time they go to bed. After release they're often lost as they no longer have that structure. Try to getting yourself into a routine, whether it's bjj or what ever. Plan your days out and have something to occupy your time and your mind.

I felt the same way when I got out of basic training and my MOS school. You're a bit depressed and that's ok. It's just a transitional phase. You need to figure out your goals and focus on meeting them. It sounds like you feel a bit lost. I remember sitting around the house for like 2 weeks depressed as shit missing all my military friends. meet some new friends to hang out with, but don't waste these important years waiting on deployments and boozing it up. Get focused on doing what's best for you, and keep on the right track. Good luck and take care

Training jiu jitsu will help you keep some discipline and will get you out of the house.

sounds like there r some mental issues. I mean you havent even been deployed or really seen anything yet and you sound like a PTSD case.
