Gym issue; what would you do

Im training MMA and theres a guy in the gym who is a) pro b) a world class wrestler c) doesnt control himself in training.

it may sound like a minor thing to some people but to bottom line it, he's out of my wieght class, but we always end up working out together in the round robins. dude hits as hard as he can and when wrestling / submissions he usually just pins people to punch them in the face. again sounds funny but it's not. the first time i got with him on ground fighting i ended up dislocating my shoulder. this was a while back.
recently we were free sparring and it was all good. we were going from standing to take downs with submissions and even LIGHT contact ..well that meant he'd hit me in the jaw to the point that i couldnt open it because i clinched my mouth piece, so i got him back just as hard in the side of the head. his bell rung and he was pissed. we ended up on the ground and one thing leads to another and he breaks my nose as he ground and pounds me well past the bell ringing . it was a real fight. from the wrestling and GNP i think i have cauliflower ear and definately a broken nose.
everyone else is usually light on contact giving pointers and we grow together and make sure everyone is being helpful. this guy seems to take advantage of what you dont know or manipulates his abilities to break you down.
i told him and my coach that at the least it wasnt cool, and he said he was sorry about the bloody nose, and my coach just said thats the way he is and i'll get better if i keep working with him.
but in my mind if the whole time im really getting injured how is that growth? he's the 'go to far with a submission ' guy..what would you do?

Train with someone else. Also, you'll get better advice in the grappling forum.

Man that blows. I would have said something right away. Like, "What the hell dude! Take it easy!"

Screw that.

he BROKE your nose, or you thought he did? that happned to me a lot in wrestling, you'd catch a wild knee now and then, and think its broken

his going hard might just be the wrestling mindset. but if he's getting angry maybe he's really a hothead. tell him to chill, he might not even realize he was going that hard. if he doesnt, fuck it, refuse to roll with em. talk to coach again too, if he doesnt do anything about it, its a shitty place to practice and its time to leave

Fuck your coach. My coach would have kicked that guys ass out of the gym a long time ago. The first thing he told me when I signed up was, "we don't have egos here. you start getting an ego and you're out the door."

Your coach needs to have better control over his students. Next time you round robin up with that guy tell him to fuck off.

also - it's got nothing to do with being tough or backing down. You don;t do that shit with your teammate unless they agree to go 100%. It's childish and someone could get injured. Injuries are stupid if you're not getting paid when they happen.

just tell him and your instructor that you won't spar with him. it's your body and your money, spar w/ someone who isn't a careless prick.
