If money does not buy happiness, what does. What keeps you going

Im 23 years old and am in the stage of getting my life together,as far as me I can say ive lived a pretty good live, ive had my ups and downs.

Im currently under bankruptcy, due to a failed business after some stupid decisions and giving authority around to those who should not have it. So i filed to clear everything,
I am going to ATI to get my ase certification,I wanna reopen a high performance car shop, right now I work as a parts sales representative for a local porsche/bmw shop and I play poker part time looking to save up.

Now reason I mention that is because, that is genuinely my life right now, working and grinding to save money and I am unpleased Like I feel very empty.
Personally when I had my shop,I had my father with me,like Money was coming in,I was going out to car hangouts, riding bikes,i dunno things seemed well, but I also had alot of fake friends, and gold digging girls around.

Now that im grinding, and have really little to no friends,am single currently,Ive realized money cant buy happiness. I used to think it did When I was stupid.
Im still young and stupid but have been exposed to much more of the reality of life.
I am spending more time with my family, playing alot more with my dog,and trying to appreciate the smaller things. but its like the world/society is so money obsessed no one shows a little love anymore.
I dont feel there is anything wrong with trying to make money and become successfull but defenetly letting it consume you can bring no good in my opinion.
So my questsion to the forum is.
What makes you happy? What keeps you going every day? are you financially stable? broke?poor? rich parents? work a job you love? work a job you hate?
Anyone have any stories of things theyve gone through before they started to appreciate the little things in life?

Don't worry about things so much. The grind will pay off and you have a bonus of spending time with your family. If you work hard every day and don't make the same mistake twice you will be okay.

i know exactly how you feel. i been through a lot financial hell in the past 5 years of my life. it's just recently i'm starting to get back on the grind and make something out of myself. i have to admit the only thing that really gets me going every day is my family.
we weren't blessed with a lot of money or anything like that. we came here from a 3rd country and work hard for everything we have. just recently things have been getting good for us but we busted our balls to get where we are. honestly, that is what really keeps me going. i might not have money or a nice car or anything like that but knowing my family is great to me and cares about me, it is definitely a happy feeling.

I know how you feel, with my family going through bankruptcy twice, but man, Family, Friends and Purpose, whether your agnostic or religious, makes the grind worth it.

It's life's nature to bring you down to rock bottom, but just like most things in life, it eventually passes, and all the friends and family make that grind worth it.

You come out a wiser man, not that you need to take my word for it, just my two cents.

and btw for thejerk I actually do train bjj ,lol Its defenetly one of the few things i look to every other day,its like a mini accomplishment I have to get through so thats cool.

Yeah Im defenetly learning as the time passes,im trying to be more appreciatve of the smaller things,my family and so fourth and not get caught up in being obsessed with money..

One thing ive noticed ( Im cuban american by the way ) is that when i meet up with my cousins husbands family, older hispanic/latins who came to america, some made it and some didnt its like.
everytime i come across them all i get asked about is my money situation,i should be going to school, get a degree, make big money, money, money, money money.. just makes me wonder sometimes

To be honest, money CAN buy me happiness. But other than that, being a musician, I guess music not only keeps me happy but keeps me sane.

Hey man, its understandable, people who say "money doesn't matter" obviously doens't have a family or has faced hunger.

But the only thing I would convey here is, don't be the slave to money.

Work hard and do your best to do well business wise, but don't let the money control you.

Being a slave to money only makes the grind worse and worse.

You are going through a good change. Same shit happened with me a year and a half ago. I thought money would make me happy then I had all this money and realized it didn't, then I lost it all and that sucked ass, and now I am making more then ever before and am happy because of who I am and what I have with my friends and some family members.
