I was shafted

I was shafted yesterday.

Was going to see radiohead at the nissan pavilion. My buddy picks me up later than I would have liked but we should still make it in time for the opening act.

On the way there we get rear ended by a korean girl and her family (we were completely stopped when hit). The grandpa in the backseat of their car somehow got his head gashed and had gotten blood everywhere in their car. Their front end was messed up really bad while the car we were in which was actually my buddies roomate's received basically no damage.

The accident took place right next to some cops who were already taking care of another accident so it took forever to have them reconcile the situation. We had to wait for an ambulance and then wait for the cops to give us the paper work and get everything filled out. That takes about an hour.

As we prepare to leave the car won't start.....apparently leaving the emergency light on has sapped the battery so now we have to get a jump start from the cops.

So now we're finally on our way to see radiohead but there is a huge backup. Apparently one of the roads to the venue has been flooded as well as some of the venue parking lots. Some of my friends that were also going to see the show had been within 2 miles of the venue while we were getting rear ended and they hadn't moved at all in traffic.

We take a different exit than our friends but the traffic is horrendously backed up. It takes us forever to get there and park. The parking lot is a muddy flooded mess and is completely
flooded and shitty. We run to the concert and get absolutely dirty and soaked.

We get there just in time to catch the first of 2 encores.......we maybe catch 7 songs.
Not to mention I missed them perform my favorite song Paranoid Android.

My friends that had been within 2 miles of the venue since we were rear ended, had been rerouted and denied entry once they finally got to the nissan pavilion, they never even got to see the show.

Oh I forgot to mention that when I first tried to see radiohead about 5-6 years ago they got rained out and I had waited this long just to be shafted again.

I WAS SHAFTED.

actually the girl herself was cute but she was crying the whole time because she was driving, the accident was completely her fault, and her grandpa was spouting blood everywhere.

It will always be the other person's fault if you get rear ended by them. I remember trying to explain that to that fool who rear ended my car a few months ago. The wife slammed on the brakes because some woman darted out into traffic trying to catch the bus on the other side of the street. The dude who rear-ended us was like "you slammed on your brakes, it's your fault."

I was like,"no dude, you rear ended us which means you were to close to us to begin with, that's pretty much day 1 stuff in driver's ed." He kept telling me I was wrong until the cops told him the same thing.

technically would it be their fault if the driver in front didnt have working break lights? Might be hard to prove after an incident but im sure its happened in the past and it has crossed my mind more than once.

In New Jersey, no matter WHAT the circumstances are, the person that rear ends you is at fault.

I doubt it technically would, sure they would get cited for it but you still need to be a certain distance behind a car and you need to be watching traffic, you don't need to see break lights to notice a car slowing down.

Also it has to be impossible to prove because once you get rear ended your breaklights probably won't be working anymore......

It is an interesting question though.

The cops saw our accident take place as it was happening and basically told us it was completely the azns fault.

You might get cited for having burned out brake lights but the rule regarding keeping a certain distance between you and the car in front of you is specifically for cases like that where the person in front of you might have to make a sudden stop or doesn't have working brake lights.

Damn...sorry you missed the concert. At least you are okay...and didn't get hurt in the accident.

I'm hoping nothing deters me from me watching Radiohead perform...I'll be seeing them twice (hopefully...LOL)!
