About to give it its first listen and write my own overview for those interested....
I wont tell to much but heres my thoughts as i listen....
Track 1: "Walk With Me In Hell" The albums starts with a melodic(sorta/kinda Devin Townsend-ish) yet heavy intro. Rolling mail riff. Definetly an anthem type song. EXTREMLY powerful. Huge chopping, dissonent pre solo. This song left me speachless. Great Solo
Track 2: "Again We Rise" Thrasy start with an almost blast beat. Very timing oriented with lots of staccato and thrash(usual lamb of god,but like i said, this is the new LOG)... Very heavy song.. Short solo
Track 3: "Redneck" If your a fan you know the song already. Perfect first glimpse of the record.

(it was released Via internet a while ago) If you dont know the song, "The is a mother fucking invitation, the only one you'll ever need" Complex Riffing and lots of time changes. Bending lead, No solo, but that's OK.
Track 4: "Pathetic" Very cool intro turns into main riff. Extremly heavy verses. very complex timing. Ending with song fading out and comming back in. Using blended crowd roars and multiple voices. Great solo
Track 5: "Foot To The Throat" Starts out very thrash and Death oriented. Quick blast beat, leading into very intricate rythym. Heavy but harmonzing... Breakdown near the 2 minute mark, very intricate. Very intense song.
Track 6: "Descending" The Drums dominate on this one, even more than usual LoG. Its as though he says "Fuck what you do, follow me" Even tho the guitar is right in your face, Its hard not to notice the drummer structured this song(as Chris Adler normally does most of them) Lots of change ups going on in this one. Very powerful ending.
Track 7: "Blacken the Cursed Sun" Harmonizing intro, turning into main riff. Very dissonent... Drawn out, ringing chorus (leaves an empty feeling in my chest) Very heavy intense midsong change . Broken up ending, very anthem sounding(lots of stuccato).
Track 8: "Forgotten(Lost Angels)" Drum intro into very fast thrash riff. Lots of power in this one. Very complex changes(and riffs). Very awkwardly structured solo, its good, dont worry. Double layered vocal ending... Very agressive song. I think i caught somethign about "wont piss on you, if your on fire" Leads directly into Track 9
Track 9: "Requiem" Perfect transition, continuing the last song at first. Very exciting song. Intense breakdown with dissonently harmonized stuccato ,normal LoG style riffing and back to stuccato leading into solo. possibly the most thought out LoG solo. Very aggresive ending.
Track 10: "More Time To Kill" Very cool intro/main riff. Some death elements in this one. Very old school "LoG style" at points. Very technical song. Huge galloping chops into 5 second clean break, into ending with bending leads.
Track 11: "Beating On Death's Door" Very fast and intense right off the bat. HOLY SHIT this is intense... Insane chopping breakdown... Slowing down(barely) to very heavy, choppy break. Drum break right back to the insanity. This song proves that Chris Adler(drums) holds this band together. Interesting structure with decending lead in the end.
Let me first start by saying, this is the best so far.... This is the true potential of Lamb of God. True evolution as a band. I didnt like theyre first two albums("New American Gospel" and "Burn The Priest") *as much* as the latter albums ("As The Palaces Burn" and "Ashes of The Wake"). But this puts all previous work in its place,. making those albums, the breeding grounds to what they've now become.
Imagine everythign you LOVE about LoG. And what youve come to expect from the technical masterminds, and add everythign that was(n't [subjective]) missing, Solos and more focus on melody/harmonizing) And you have a 200% completely evolved Lamb of God.
If your a fan, you NEED this album now.
PS - I wrote the review part as I heard it for the first time, which explain the lack of full sentences in some parts. But if I edit it takes away from initial reaction I felt. I hope you guys enjoy =)
*Another side note* Its good to see LoG stray away from politics, I apreciate what they have to say, seeing as they down offer sides. Only suggest educatign YOURSELF. But this album has a very personal touch. Along with some anthems that will really hit hard live.
Anyone one else pick it up? If so, leave some love.
I want my fellow LoG fans to see this when they get on here. So, by all means....
Flame On!!!!
