I read this quote today and it really made me think about how boring I've been on dates in the past.

It's obvious to me that laughter is the key if you want to get anywere with a girl. I think many people over look this concept.

Throw in your suggestions mayberry. I'm running out of idea's. It's hard to be funny. There is no telling how many times I've tired to make a girl laugh and only have it back fire into something stupid.

And I know I'm not the only dude on this tread looking for some answers about this epic problem. I'm sure most of you can think of a time you tired to become funny and turned out being boring or looking like a jackass instead.

Well I planned on taking this girl out who I have known for 8 years, we dated in highschool but we are well out and she is single now. I was going to go to Dave and Busters for some drinks and video games , and like you said making them laugh is always a good thing. Well I washed my car, cleaned it out, got all ready and called her and then BAM, she was busy picking some1 up at the airport (Hopefully she meets BJ Penn) and said she might text me later which means NO. I FAILED HARD TONIGHT!!

Sometimes it depends on the girl but usually cocky situational humor is what they find the most attractive. So be a little bit of a jerk(not too much) but nothing that's mean or just plain rude. And make jokes that make you look a little over-confident but again not too much.

Something else I've noticed. Pretty much my whole life. Is attractive girls seem to be attracted to fugly guys just for the humor.

I think it's worse to try and be funny and fail, than just not say anything, or just say something relevant that isn't funny. There are so many things that can make you think shit is funny when it really isn't e.g. nerves making you giggly. Plus I always find people laughing at their own jokes really annoying.

Anyway it takes two people to make a conversation interesting. If you're talking to a boring airhead then it won't matter what you say because she won't understand anything intelligent you say anyway.

By the way I don't think being funny is the key to getting girls. Status is the key (ie being better than other guys at something). Status is to girls what looks are to guys. It kind of depends on the culture though. A goth girl would probably think Marilyn Manson is hot, whereas other types of girls wouldn't. On the other hand certain types of thing are cool to most people- eg MMA, that's why MMA fighters get a lot of hot girlfriends.

Oh that's bullshit.

The idea humor wins women over is nothing more than what people tell you. People who think they are clever. The truth is women laugh when the chemistry is good. Don't be boring, that's pretty much all you gotta remember. Don't be a downer, that sorta thing.

You don't gotta make with the yuk-yuks alla time. In fact, if you lead with comedy the mistake there is you gotta keep the comedy up. And let's be honest: no one's funny every single day. Make a realistic first impression.

that's what ugly guys like to think. i see a lot of hot girls with vacuous dunderheads; they're not funny, witty, or intelligent for that matter.

it's kind of dependent on the girl to some degree. do all guys find you funny? no. people have certain comedic styles, likes and dislikes. if she doesn't find you funny then your idea of funny might not match what hers is. or you're just plain unfunny.

you can become a good conversationalist without making her spit coffee. play to your strengths. please though... don't run out and buy the "101 funniest jokes you'll ever read!!" book and use them.
