Landed the craziest job of my life today

So I had one of the strangest interviews a few hours ago. Got the job, which will pay great and has very lax hours, so both of those traits are up my alley. But still, this is probabaly the weirdest job I will have worked so far.

It's for a psychic, house cleansing, and ghost hunter/buster company. That description alone just probably made a lot of go WTF? This place doesn't do any telephone crap or have people come into the office, they send their employees out to the clients home or business to conduct all the activities. Supposedly most of the clients are either repeat customers or people who were recommended to contact this business from previous clients.

And let me state that I'm not a psychic. I have years of experience with meditation, seeing/reading auras, lucid dreaming, tarot cards, etc. I have very good intuition, and I'm damn good at being able to read people, which I contribute to all the psychology classes I took and studied in college. And I do believe in ghosts/spirts. Shit, I spent 13 years of my life in Louisiana, live there for that long and you'll see and experience some crazy shit that will open your mind up to believing in all this too.

But this company is half real, half bullshit, and the owner told me that in the interview. He'll send his employees to a clients house, and depending on what they want, anything from guided meditation to cleansing their house of negative energy to "ridding the area of ghosts". The meditation is legit, but for the cleansing and ghost busting, according to him it's mostly placebo. Take an hour to burn some sage, say a few lines, then allakhazam, you tell the client everything is now fine. And it's placebo, they think something is wrong, they watch you supposedly correct it, and they're happy and you just got paid.

The owner made a good point when he said that everyone wants to blame whatever problems in their life on something else. It's never their fault, it's a bad energy in the living room, or its a ghost that's disrupting the ch'i flow of their home and life, or an impurity attached to the couch that's making their life all wrong. So go in there and supposedly alleviate it, and everyone's happy. And as soon as something new goes wrong, they pick up the phone and call you back out to fix the "new problem".

Not the most honest job I will have worked, but for at $40-$60/hour depending on what you're doing for the client, I'm not going to complain at the moment. And I'm sure I'll end up with some great stories and experiences to tell my friends and end up posting about in here.

So has anyone here ever had this crazy of a job before?

That sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I've never done anything like that. Good luck, I hope it pays enough to be something permanent for you.

It sounds like a business that will have the police arresting everyone involved for fraud to me.

Sounds very shady.

I've never had a job like that before but I did see both Ghostbuster 1 and Ghostbuster 2. You'll for sure have to post some stories once you get out in the field and start your investigations.

^LOL @ at the guys thinking about lawsuits.

The ratio of scam companies vs. scam companies that get caught is astronomical. This isn't Batman; justice rarely gets served these days.

I'm digging the pay. We get half of what is charged, so guided meditation is $80/hour, so I get $40 just for doing that. The ghost busting is $120/hour, and house cleansing is $100/hour. The scheduling seems pretty cool too, it's lot like I'll just sit up there waiting for work, all the work is scheduled and planned ahead of time. So Monday I way work from noon-3, that's not a big chunk of time, and the minimum I could make that day would be $120 for those 3 hours. Plus we get to wear suits everyday on the job, so I'll look pimptastic everyday I work.
