How often do jobs drug test employees

I'm asking this because i am most likely getting a job at the hospital here soon in a couple of days maybe and i know for sure that a hospital is going to drug screen me. I'm going to be a transporter and was wondering, do they tell you when your next drug screen is, and does anyone know how often they come. Is it state regulated, or do all businesses apply to a federal standard.

Also, yes i do smoke pot. I'm an average user which enjoys it. I just like to come home to have a bowl after working, or school, or working out...that's just me. I don't drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes like everyone else, i just like to smoke from time to time. Knowing I have a job coming up, i haven't smoked in 2 weeks. I also exercise a lot so i should be able to get clean soon. Just wondering if anyone knew the above question...thanks.

No idea how often you will be tested, since it is a hospital probably more often than usual

Most places usually do random drug screenings, that could happened at anytime(So you don't have a chance to get anything of your system)!!!Or they will send you in for a screening anytime they are suspicious about your behaviour at work, so don't go to work baked out of your mind!!!

By the way, what part of Michigan are you from??

I am from Detroit, so if i was to always go to work with a smile on my face at all time, i would never be tested after the very first time?

I would say it depends on their policy..which they should tell you about or you should be given some reading material about. They might be able to test you randomly in a probation period, but then have other guidelines after that. You probably really need to ask them about it. Um...you also might want to make sure they do urine and not hair tests.....Is there a union contract to worry about? If so, it should be stated in there what they can and can't do.

If you are a transporter I'm sure they will do it after any accidents, or tickets or anything like that, unless that is contra to policy or said contract. I don't think there are any state or federal guidelines that will cover that.

it's kinda expensive for companies to screen but they usually test JUST ONCE before you take the job.

My buddy' and I have been tested for Landscaping at a college and I've been tested before working in a nursing home .

They sell a drink at GNC that supposedly helps you beat the test. You have to ask for it as a "cleansing product" or they won't acknowledge your request.

Thanks for the info. So just once. Good. Last job i had as a demo laborer they only tested me once, but i thought all jobs were different. Hopefully after i pass, they never test me again. The NWO sucks.

Useally only once, unless you give them a reason to suspect otherwise. Also anytime you may have to renew a license or certification might require a dt.

I don't underestand why firms test drug their employees?
I mean if you're doing a good job, your firm should not care if you do more drugs than a race horse
