How come the original Jurassic Parks CG is so much better..

Than any movie that comes out today? Now i dont know alot about movie graphics. The main reason i dont like watching alot of modern movies, is that the creatures, animals etc. Look so godamn fake to the point where it looks like virtual reality. I thought they were supposed to make it look more real not more fake. Like the new movie 10,000 BC. How can it fool anyone? Whereas Jurassic Park 1, all the dinosaurs looked real as shit and not like they popped out of some bad video game?

Was Jurassic Parks CG just that damn good or what. I mean its way before the time of all this new movie technology (You have to admit, the dinos did look pretty good in the original.) I just..dont understand.

It has a lot to do with lighting. People don't understand how much lighting effects graphics. They also used Robots and CG'd over them. Most of the shots were also in the dark which makes it far more easy to do good CG. If you remember the first shots of the dinosaurs during the day, if you look at them now, they don't look that good or believable.

What you don't understand is about 80 percent of the things you see in movies are CG now. It's just so good you don't realize it. Most movies, including No country for Old men, There will be blood and countless others all used CG. CG is also used in the background for most TV shows.

the Star Wars series had amazing CG, and also all of the animated movies like Ratatullia(sp) are far superior.

Movies like 10,000 BC don't have the best because they don't want to dish out the budget.

CG is everywhere and it's come a long way.

Also, almost every single thing in the Pirates of the Caribbean is CG.

oh damn. thats right, they were robots. No wonder they looked amazingly fucking real. IMO they should have more robots in movies nowadays if they look that damn realistic. JP 1 still never ceases to amaze me.

to be honest, the ghouls and stuff in POTC 1&2 looked pretty fake and kiddish to me. But now that i think about it, i dont think i paid enough mind to the surroundings and stuff to judge.

It's called art style.

Not all CG is suppose to look real.

Maybe this puts it into perspective.

It's also far more easy to do a dinosaur then anything else. IN fact it's easier to do a dinosaur then car.

Chances are everything looks better when you're young and don't know any better.
