Whereas Jurassic Park 1, all the dinosaurs looked real as shit and not like they popped out of some bad video game?
Was Jurassic Parks CG just that damn good or what. I mean its way before the time of all this new movie technology (You have to admit, the dinos did look pretty good in the original.) I just..dont understand.

It has a lot to do with lighting. People don't understand how much lighting effects graphics. They also used Robots and CG'd over them. Most of the shots were also in the dark which makes it far more easy to do good CG. If you remember the first shots of the dinosaurs during the day, if you look at them now, they don't look that good or believable.
What you don't understand is about 80 percent of the things you see in movies are CG now. It's just so good you don't realize it. Most movies, including No country for Old men, There will be blood and countless others all used CG. CG is also used in the background for most TV shows.
the Star Wars series had amazing CG, and also all of the animated movies like Ratatullia(sp) are far superior.
Movies like 10,000 BC don't have the best because they don't want to dish out the budget.
