Is it a heads up or intimidation? Corporate scum.
Let's start here , I work as a dockworker/truck driver. As we all know, you cannot turn the tv on and flip through without hearing how we are doomed financially, this whole bailout mess. Today at work, a co worker comes up to me and says the manager was saying we had half the orders today as yesterday. He then went on to rave about layoffs and how we should all do as much as possible so if that happens we would stand less of a chance of a layoff. Now here is the question, does this stuff trickle down from from the department heads to instill fears and rumors off the workers? I think so becuase I have seen companies using similar tactics when the economy was great. Tell me your opinion on why a lowly dock worker/truck driver needs to know the everyday sales or cares. Lay me the fuck off but don't try to scare me by feeding in to people at work to start trying to scare us into going way out of our job criteria and payscale.
For the record I give two shites how this company is doing becuase they give a very low wage for the job, the reason I am there is becuase I just finished school at 30 years old[ been around the block with corporate bullshit] and I am trying to get some work related experience that fits my education. They have terrible benifits, no overtime, and from what I see could care less about the workers morale. Also how do you think I should deal with this ''muppett'' who is going around saying he heard this and he heard that. I feel bad that he lacks the ability to wake up, but just want to bitchslap him for his stupidity at the same time.

This is a time of fear and stupidity. You should fear for your job, but don't let it get to you because no matter how well you perform, chances are there is nothing you can do.

Right on, I do my job better than most and perform well, the only thing that matters to me is my family, that's why people who scare easy try to ruin my day spreading gossip and although it does not make me loses any sleep, it upsets other good workers who give thier all to have their day ruined by scare tactics and talk.

I love the job, and knew when I went to school that I had to put in some work to gain experience, and I am still 6 months away from the experience needed and can do it without issue.

i had to miss work today because i have the flu. In the past few weeks they have been laying people off left and right as business has slowed down. I have only been there for a few months so that means i am in the drawing to get laid off. The thing that sucks is i know for sure i wont be able to perform my job with this flu. Plus why risk getting others sick? I kind of have a feeling this is putting me a negative light and possibly giving me the axe when i get back.

At my last corporate job I got drunk and told my boss's boss to go fuck himself. It felt great and my new job is owned by one guy that thinks its hilarious that I did that.
