Has anyone ever worked as an HR recruiter for a staffing agency?

What's it like?

Can someone give me a rundown of how that gig works?

Thanks!

You search monster and other sites all day for canidates and match them to jobs, you then get commison if they sign a contract.

Yup you do as thoughtsone does or you work directly with companies and search online for resumes of people who match the position.

My ex was a recruiter. Moved up to management after a year or so. Like the previous said but if you really want to be good you have to network like a motherfucker. Which is what my ex did. She basically taught me how to do what she does, not that I need it cause I've got my own job but I figured it would be good skills to have. She's making 6 figures now and it's all about networking. Network your ass off.

Let me give you some more info. Her day basically consisted of:
-Updating her vmail outgoing message
-Checking her email
-Following up on emails.
-Delegating duties to her assistants
-Calling her contacts to touch base
-Checking for leads through Monster, Dice, etc.
-Checking for leads through a mail list she set up
-Calling her warms leads
-Calling a shitload of cold leads
-Meeting with contact to schedule applicante interviews
-Getting new contacts from person she just met with
-Meeting new applicants and interviewing them
-Running backgrounds checks on applicants
-Calling more cold leads
-Setting meetings with cold leads
-Updating her contacts and duties for the next day.
-Go home.

*Often, after work, she will go to outside business functions to network and make more contacts. And when meeting with contacts at their company she'll always arrive early to walk around and talk to people to get more contacts. Like I said, network network network.

You really have to be organized, focused, driven, and handle stress well to succeed as a recruiter. But if you can do it, there is big money to be made and nice perks.

Ugh you're bringing back some bad memories. That is a lot of the shit I had to do for this non-profit agency that staffed.

That place was the worst.

What the hell, you actually worked for a non-profit staffing agency? Was it for helping the poor or homeless find jobs? Thats the only way I can imagine a staffing company being non profit.

Keej613, my friends work at staffing agencies and I hope you know that they are mainly commission based for pay. My friend got a set salary and commission. If you're new they might try to dick you on the commission rate you get.
