Huh? How is limited the way people talk moronic? Would this law be a step in the right direction?

What are the laws in your state?

did anyone catch the 60 minutes piece on sleep a couple weeks ago? their numbers suggested that driving while tired was comparable or worse than driving "drunk" under current laws.

Yeah but 1) motorcycles are air cooled so they cant sit in traffic forever and 2) they are only supposed to lane split when the flow of traffic is like 25mph or less if I recall.

But Im sure some do it all the time anyway.

SPEAKING of nuts, someone tell me if this is true: I heard in Texas it's legal to pass on the shoulder!

Did you read my post at all? I just stated that it is already illegal to drive dangerously, that is the whole substantiation given for the new law, but it's already covered by another law (reckless driving).

The funny thing is that texting was not covered in the law. In a bulletin sent out by the Highway Patrol on FAQs about the new law, the question was asked if texting was covered. The Highway Patrol basically said "No, but you may still get a ticket for if you are driving dangerously while texting."

And that's my point, it's already illegal to drive dangerously so this law is pointless except to line the pockets of the cell-phone headset makers who line the pockets of the politicians to get this bill passed.

Sorry just trying to understand you because you're all over the place.

So you are mad because this law is redundant, not because ppl can still talk while driving?

I only see it in bumper to bumper traffic, but who knows...

Those guys have balls of steel though, because they come inches away from hitting side mirrors with their handlebars and they don't slow down. If they were to get clipped like that it would be an ugly site.

As many bad accidents as I have seen I don't think I could get a bike.

Yeah I saw a guy hit a side mirror onces while lane splitting. Really scarey stuff too.

I'm mad because the idiots who wrote the law did it out of ignorance and greed. There are no studies showing that it is any safer to talk on the phone using a "hands-free" device. In fact studies show the opposite: that the dangerous aspect is the conversation itself and not holding of the phone. But of course politicians don't want to be confused with the facts, their too busy trying to score political points.

I'm mad because now I have to spend my own money to comply with this moronic law.

I'm mad because this is already covered by another law, but now they can write tickets for people even if their not driving dangerously which means means more revenues for the state (cha-ching!)

I'm mostly mad because this is representational of how our political system has devolved into:

1) Lobbyists getting what they want by lining the pockets of greedy politicians.
2) Politicians being greedy and selling out to the highest bidder, especially if they can score political points in the process
3) Politicians either being ignorant of the facts or (worse) spreading misinformation to the ignorant masses and passing unnecessary laws and regulations
4) The media not doing their job by exposing these issues and taking government officials to task for their wrongdoing.
