to the guys and girls that train do you train with one gym or several?

im curious to see what everyone prefers, i have trained for several months under one gym but ive recently been training in Muay Thai in a Muay Thai academy and BJJ in london and greco roman wrestling just outside London.

ive noted the advantages and the disadavantages as both:

Training with several diffrent academys does improve certian aspects of your game, my Muay Thai sessions has gave me new confidence on my feet.however no consideration is taken into defending takedowns etc, and the adapatations for MMA.

Training purelly in BJJ and wrestling really aids your development if you prefer to learn things seperatlly or (like me) prefer to learn one two moves rather then a barrage of tecniques then i would reccomend mixing the training up, however its pricey and travel time is a pain, and would only suggest doing somthing like this if you are a pro fighter or plan to be one

You also lose a sense of teamship mixing up your training which does count a lot when you need the support of your peers.

note: im not a pro fighter however i plan to be one, im not trying to be some kind of wise man tellling people what to do, like i said im just curious to see how other people train

Training your disciplines separately is more expensive, but worth it if you can afford it. I go to an "MMA" gym, but I also have a boxing coach, a wrestling coach, and a BJJ instructor. Basically, I train MMA during the week, and do private, specific sessions on the weekend. You just need to find coaches you can afford.

it is just too expensive to train at 2 gyms here. I pay $ 165 per month for Jiu Jitsu and Vale Tudo. Then I pay $50 for the gym where I weightlift and take spinning classes 3 times a week.

This plus managing 2 stores takes its toll on my life.

My question to you is what are your expectations? Doo you want to fight professionally? If not then I don't see the logic in spending all that money and time commuting between gyms.

Bingo. I train for personal reasons and I am never going to compete. Going to two gyms would be a waste for me.

I train at a Jiujitsu club for $120 a month and go to a MMA club that is free at the University.
I learn technique from my bjj coach and can further practice it on campus.

If I had the loot for it I would be going to different schools for sure, but I don't so I make due with the gym I think will offer me the best all around training.

Over the years I have trained at 7 different gyms. But I've never trained at more than one at a time. The cheapest gym I have been too costs 80 bucks a month (my current gym), so I could never afford more than one at a time. Also, when I was younger I had time to train a lot more than I do now.
