Growing Hot Peppers

Hey gents, I am sure at least one of you guys grows fruits/vegetables. I was wondering if any had any tips for a first time plant grower. I am looking to grow some hot peppers as I have a massive love fest for hot peppers.

I currently have a jalepeno, habanero, and cayanne pepper plants. i have one of each, is it still possible to get the peppers to grow or will i be needing another plant of each kind?

Any tips on soil type or how often i should water it?

Like I said I've never really grown anything before and I am really looking forward to some peppers.

Is it possible to make a hybrid pepper? ie can i make ridiculously hot cayannes by mixing them with habaneros

Thansk for the help guys

My dad actually just started a garden of vegetables and there are some peppers in there. My advice would to just get some good fertilizer, have a good environment to grow it in, and make sure not to plant the seeds too deep. Not sure about the hybrid pepper question though lol

Even easier, for beginners like me, is to buy a kit from your local store. We have one that came with a pot, dirt and all the seeds you needs to get started. You just add the water and in a few weeks, peppers appear. It was pretty simple.

Should've ante'd up to the habanero reds! Grew some a few years ago - told people they were 'mini bell peppers'...lol.

...people get pissed about stuff like that.

a friend of mine had these weird peppers that looked like cherry tomatoes from afar. he called them cherry bombs they were pretty hot for the size. since they were so thick in the "wall" they were great for stuffing with cheese and shit like that. absolutely delicious

Wow that is a mean trick! LOL

Years back some friends of mine and I were in the kitchen. One of our buddies can't take any heat - I mean like Tobasco will kick his ass. Taco Bell hot sauceis even too much. SO we had this habenero pepper and he said he'd like to try it. We all said "Dude you do NOT want to do that. If you think Tobasco is hot, this will kill you."

Well he tried it anyway. He bit off the tiniest little nip off the end of the pepper. In a matter of seconds his eyes start watering and his face turned red. He started panting and freaking out and we were like "give him some milk!!" Well his eyes were watering a lot so he rubbed his eyes - with the same hand that had picked up the pepper, thus getting habenero oil IN his eye! The next half our of his life was spent in over the sink with the water running full blast on his face/in his mouth.

There is a lesson in all of this. But I forget what it is.

Ive heard from a few sources growing different hot pepper varietys together in the same season is a bad idea.

As to how true that is, I couldnt say.
