The Murder Junkies were touring on Ginn's solo tour -Which was basically him showcasing his prowress for volume and improvizational noise (which I dig).

Sex Pistols. This should be beyond debate.

Others did it first or did it better, but no one else had anywhere near the infamy or the influence on society at large.

TOTAL BULLSHIT.

They were a short FAD. They were not even a very good band

The Ramones and eventually the Clash had greater impact.

The Stooges are more important too.

Dude, I was in high school when the Sex Pistols hit. They made headlines everywhere and were considered -- literally -- a threat to the morals and sanity of youth. And it wasn't just the mainstream media saying this -- a pretty fair chunk of the music press and rock fans did, too. When I first heard about the Sex Pistols, me and all my Nugent/Kiss/Zep/Aerosmith-listening pals thought the Pistols were a disgrace, a freak show, a fraud and a bunch of f***s.

When I actually heard them, I had to admit their songs weren't half-bad.

Now, as far as impact on musicians from a given band's inception until now, you may be right about the Ramones and the Clash and the Stooges.

But in terms of making the world at large go "oh my God, this is terrible, this must be stopped" during a band's existence, the Pistols eclipse everybody. And that's my yardstick for measuring the greatness of a punk band.

Yeah, I get what you are saying -I was there too.

I guess I am referring to punk MUSICAL contribution and musical influence. The Sex Pistols were a brief fad and have a short significant NOTORIETY
