Cancun is a great place for Spring Break. The beaches are beautiful. The water is warm. There are tons of places to go to get loaded. It should be a good time for you. One piece of advice: Stay in the Hotel Zone for your partying. You don't want to go into town, wind up drunk, and have to find your way out of there.

Stay in the tourist spots and do not fuck with the police. you will have to bribe them if anything goes wrong. Hit the beach. And ask for tequila by name, Like jose or patron. If not they give you some moonshine shit out of a milkjug.

I love Mexico - the people, the scenery, the food... it's incredible. But I will never go back there, it is too corrupt and dangerous. I know I will take heat for this but you need to hear it. To me, Cancun, big fucking deal. You might as well just go to Huntington Beach. It's not Mexico. If you want real Mexico get out of the touristy areas - Cancun, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, etc. and get into the off the beaten path places. THAT is Mexico. Unfortunately, going in and out subjects you to the federale fuckheads. I have been in mexican jails in big towns and small, they are every bit as horrid as you've heard. It took a lot of money to get me out of the last one and I lost my boat forever as part of the deal. All because those fuckers are so crooked.

If you go, have some extra money that you don't blow on booze. Keep it for an emergency to get yourself out of a bind. I can't stress this enough, if you run into trouble and have nothing to bargain with you're fucked for good. There's a great possibility that nothing will happen, there's also a very real possibility that something will. Be prepared. It also helps to have somebody that speaks fluent spanish. One of my buddies that always went with us was born in Finland and looked it (blonde hair, blue eyes) but grew up in Spain. When the federales would fuck with us he knew everything they were saying back and forth to each other and was often helpful in getting us out of jams.

Remember, you're at their mercy. Now matter how big and tough you are they don't care. It actually works to your disadvantage. I'm 6'4" and 240lbs, I've been a powerlifter and a boxer for a long time. I guess I cast a bit of a scary appearance to them because they were much harder on me than my friends and it was not because I was a smartass. I tried like hell to be respectful to the point that I felt like I was being a total bitch but it didn't help. And remember, punching one of the guards knocking him the fuck out is never a good option, I can vouch for that.
