Garage Sales

Anyone else old and lame enough to hit these up? I spent an entire Saturday morning going to them this weekend. I picked up an Elvis book, Doors book, Beach Boys book, and Record Collectors Price Guide (from the 70's) for $5 at one! I got the Thriller album for $1 at another. A Breakfast Nook plus 4 chairs at another for $35. Finally, I picked up an ironing board for $2 at another.
I used to knock my parents for going to these, but they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm still waiting to stumble upon an olympic weight set for about $50. The only downside is people trying to sell their old underwear. You'd be amazed at some of the things you can find at these, both good and bad.

Occasionally when there's one in my neighborhood, the only thing that sucks is you kind of have to get there early to get the good stuff. Otherwise you're left with used granny panties.

i hit up estate sales, they are a bit better, especially the badly run ones. usually they are hoarders, the house is wall to wall crap with no prices, always make an offer. i have found some pretty bizzare shit, a freemason handbook with personal letters between the members in it, a tape recorder from the sixties never even opened, has the original batteries with it un opened. if you go in the attic or basement you will alwaaays find the porn stash, total marine family dude, i found his gay porn, ha! i also found some seventies sci fi porn paperback novel. like i said, you find some bizzare stuff.

I'm a pretty early riser so I get there relatively early. The vinyl is what gets me at some places. You can find some good shit. The weights you can pick up for relatively cheap, but they are normally standard and not olympic. Still, if you can pick up 150 lbs of weights for $10 bucks it's worth it even to give to your nephews, kids, etc. On occasion, you can pick up a guitar or musical equipment for cheap.
A lot of the people are too stingy or high priced. Why in the world would someone want to buy something used if you can get it brand new for only 25% more?

I go to them every once in awhile but rarely find anything that good, there are hidden gems though.

I got a bj behind my friend's garage in high school. Didn't pay for it though.

Hey, whatever creams your twinkie. I used to have a vanilla ice cassette in the early 90's, I thought it was the shit at the time. Somewhere out there, someone is doing the macarena as we type.

I have been to some. Books and records are usually the best buy. I usually don't even look at the clothes but back when I wore a tie to work my wife stumbled onto a yard sale and brought back like 20 mid-price point ties (lands end, tommy, van heusen etc.) She got them for like 25 cents each and they looked new.
