saw a doc on it, but it is pretty confusing. and so if the theory of everthing. does anyone know anything on these subjects? what does the theory of everything solve?
oh they also talked about the String Theory.

OK, just kidding.

From the limited exposure I´ve had to this subject, a Theory of everything would be a unified theory, preferably expressed as a mathematical equation that underlies ALL natural laws, and basically explains why the world is like it is, that is, all the special equations would follow from that one equation. Gravity, magnetism, space, time....everything you can possibly think of.

the string theory sounds pretty logical, but it seems like it's gonna be throroughly changed in the near future.

I used to be into those things, but it is out of my league really. Brian Greene has a good book about this physics called The Elegant Universe that starts from the beginning and takes you up through the basics of strong theory.

Like a previous poster said, TOE is an attempt to find a single unified mathematical explanation for all physical phenomenon. There is the great divide between Relativistic and Quantum physics that this hopes to bridge (relativiy applies to big and quantum applies to small).

Go to PBS.org and they have a really good doc about the string theory. Basically it's trying to unify the Gravity, electromagnetic force, strong force(atomic force), and weak force(atomic force).
