Most recognizable person in the world right now...

Who would it be?

Consider the following before posting:

-where most of the world's population is located (China, SE Asia)
-media penetration in those areas (maybe not as great as north America)
-who gets their image splashed around in ads, on the news etc.
-historical figures who have passed the test of time

Here is the short list we came up with the other night over beers:

-Yao Ming
-Buddha
-Jesus
-Tiger Woods
-Michael Jordan
-The Pope
-Hitler

Of course Jesus. With media and missionaries everyone has heard of him.

Michael Jackson I reckon.

He has worldwide fame (probably even in China?) and is very unique looking.

I understand that there are more non-Christians in the entire world versus Christians.

With that in mind do you still think this is true or would a figurehead from another religion be more recognizable?

How many people in rural China or sub-Saharan Africa recognize Bush? Not as many as recognize Beckham - I am pretty sure of that.

I dunno bush isn't very popular with a lot of people, so I would think that word of mouth would get around *shrug* who knows.
