Saber-toothed cats were cool, no doubt, but they weren't that much different than big cats, at least the ones that would have been around early hominids or modern man.

But an 8-foot sea scorpion? That would have made early-GermanBJJ shit his pants had we been around at the same time.

Well, they are pretty similar I guess, but they are from different subfamilies, like a deer compared to a moose. It was the only extinct predator I could think of that coexisted with modern man.

Didn't someone already make a movie about this?

Anyway, I won't be really impressed until they find giant fossilized cans of Raid near the scorpion nest.

That will be sweet when (if) the day comes that they are able to clone some of the extinct animals/hominids.

This has "bad idea" written all over it if not conducted correctly in a closed environment. The last thing I want to see is a T-Rex roaming Times Square in NYC.

I'm pretty sure that some of today's sea faring apex predators would make short work of this scorpion. I can't see this thing fighting off an orca or 25ft great white. Hell, maybe a giant octopus could take it.

I would keep one chained in my yard and train it to be a guard scorpion.

I'd love to see one released in Africa trying to eat Rhinos and Elephants and fighting with a pride of lions.
