Finches named for Darwin are evolving

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Finches on the Galapagos Islands that inspired Charles Darwin to develop the concept of evolution are now helping confirm it -- by evolving.

A medium sized species of Darwin's finch has evolved a smaller beak to take advantage of different seeds just two decades after the arrival of a larger rival for its original food source.

lol pointless thread.

That is why he used the finch as an example, because they evolved relatively quickly generation by generation. In yo face creationists!

lol

Well, if God created evolution to trick us (as well as dinosaurs, of course), I'd say he's quite the asshole and not worth my time anyway.

I posted this same article in the "There is No Evolution" thread here. Discussion ensues.

Exactly.

Just b/c animals/people adapt to their environment does that really prove evolution?

I remember watching a show many yrs ago about a woman who swam everyday. The waters she swam in were much colder than what normal people would swim in and over a period of time her body adapted by growing a layer of fat. Is this comparable to the finch story?

I dunno maybe if she and her children and her childrens children kept swimming they would turn into fish...lol.
