This thread really does make me chuckle. I can see how some people would not understand the ending to movies like No Country, There will be blood, etc. because they don't completely comprehend the story as a whole, but to say you plain out hated it proves that your taste in cinema is lacking.

I personally love the ending to there will be blood. You really need to sit down and recall the movie as a whole, then piece together the events to truly feel the power of the ending. Think about the evolution of Daniel's character throughout the film, the rivalry between Eli and Daniel and the distinct likeness of their characters and their quest for power in 2 completely different walks of life, oil and religion. The embarrassment and brutality that Daniel puts Eli through in the last scene are memorable and almost pleasing to viewers due to the connection they develop with Plainview, he becomes a Travis Bickle type antihero. With that being said I'm a huge fan of both PT Anderson and Day-Lewis, Magnolia, Hard Eight, and My Left Foot are some of my all time favorite movies...so I'm a bit bias.

As for No Country, I thought the ending was heart breaking, you really feel empty after hearing what Tommy Lee Jones has to say at the end. Which was a good thing, the movie was great all around.

gotta agree there. the concept that some group could have such a perfect grasp of psychology to be able to steer him that completely doesn't really sell thus is very unsatisfying.

the ending of the fountain sucked balls too, but it was horrible the entire way though, so not sure if that counts or not.

Hated the directors cut for Blade Runner. The ending is absolutely terrible.
Sometimes curtailing the directors vision is a good thing.
