I'm going to stop binge drinking + drug taking for a while and see if I can still go out and have fun, like the good old days. Looking to see if my productivity/motivation/well being increases by much. Who's done it?

Im not straight edge but i dont do drugs.

I drink on the odd occasion but not like i used to. Its been about 1month since ive had a good drink

everything in moderation, theres no need to go balls out and binge drink and do drugs just to have fun, an occasional drink or toke arent harmful IMO as long as you have your shit together and dont let it interfere with whats going on in your life, personally I use it as a reward if i do well on a test or if I have done all my schoolwork on time and stayed on top of my studies for the week, after that I think its justifiable to say I deserve a drink

I guess I am straight edge, although I hate the label (mostly cause of the idiots that give it a bad name). I don't drink and do drugs, I tried it in high school and found out I didn't like it very much so I stopped using them, before I found out about straight edge. About 6 months after I had given up that stuff a friend introduced me to Minor Threat, and thus straight edge.

I agree with Wrestler, you just need to do everything in moderation. There is nothing wrong with drinking a couple or recreational drug use (besides the whole illegal thing), just as long as you keep your head on straight and don't let it control you. With that said, I am able to have fun without drinking or doing drugs. I have a normal social life, I go to parties, I will go to bars (I'm not 21), I just don't drink when I am out.

As far as productivity and motivation are concerned, I wasn't affected. I was probably more motivated when I was drinking, cause it gave me something to look forward to on the weekends. It defiantly improved my well being though. I think we are all aware of the problems that smoking can cause, and you cut a ton of calories out of your diet when you quit drinking. Also avoiding STDs is always a plus.
