Funny. When I lived in Tokyo, we used to marvel at all the crazy white people checking for used appliances and furniture at the curb on garbage days. Fucking foreigners everywhere suck. IMHO, of course.

Apparently some Best Buy's and Future Shop's don't put locks on their dumpsters, and people have scored things like wireless routers, mice, videogames, dvd's etc.

I've seen lots of people trawling through garbage for things they do not consider to be without value. People throw a lot of things away that can be of use to others.

Also, people who beg for money occasionally make more in a day than others who work for it.

It's all about choices and perceptions, really.

That's because Japanese people throw away perfectly good TVs as soon as the new model comes out. You can get relatively new, working TVs and appliances in Japan just by checking the curbs the night before garbage collection.
