Dumpster diving neighbours...
So I've lived in a gross ghetto-ass part of Calgary for the last 8 months and I'm moving out on July 1st. So, naturally I've been throwing a lot of stuff in the dumpster outside my condo...
I've noticed a disturbing phenomenon. 80% of the people in my neighborhood walk straight past the dumpster and don't give it a second glance, but then 20% dive right in and start rifling through my trash (including food waste, etc...) and taking stuff (like old clothes, bottles, etc) out of the trash.
Now here's the part where it gets really strange. 100% of those dumpster divers were Asian FAMILIES that live in my complex. Not homeless Asians, my Asian NEIGHBORS. And more disturbing than that: They bring their kids/wives/etc and make a party out of it like it's a freaking garage sale.
Anyone else noticed this? Any Asians on the board want to shed some light on this? Is this acceptable behavior in China, etc...? I actually chased some of them off because it was heebing me out watching them looking at discarded underwear and holding it up to see if it would fit them...
Urgh...
P.S. Don't start with the "that's racist!" stuff, I'm describing a phenomenon that I SAW with my own two eyes, not some racist stereotype.
