I wanted one of these years ago and used to rationalize my weirdness as "If it ever escapes you don't have to give chase right away, chill for a hour and the little bastard hasn't even left the yard yet.
They seem pretty friendly too. The claws look fairly gashable though.
I knew this weird bitch in high school that had 3 skunks for pets. They had their stank sacks removed or something like this. I pet them and they seemed alright. They're a little skiddish around strangers I think. I couldn't ever see myself owning a skunk for a pet though.
I've always wanted a small pot bellied pig as a pet though.
