The Bible provides for "Cities of Refuge" for people who may be hunted by a family's "avenger of blood" after he accidentally killed a member of the avenger's family.

So say I messed up on the contstruction site and killed Jim on accident. Then, Jim's brother Dan is the avenger of blood and tries to kill me. I can run to one of the six(?) cities of refuge and be safe until cooler heads prevail.

I don't agree with it but Revenge makes you feel good.
When I was little my Dad was mugged at knife point in our neighborhood. Fast Forward to when I was 19 and I ran into that guy with all my friends. I couldn't forget and I proceeded to beat the living shit out of him in broad daylight until I couldn't anymore. Coincidently he was with his kid.
Karma is a bitch.
Was it wrong? Maybe but it was therapy for me.

I found out who the guy is and have been tracking his ass down for almost a year…that’s what motivated this thread.
Though I would be interested to read what happens, it might not be wise to write about this on the internet. Your case is not hypothetical or a small time fight in the distance past. Be careful.

As for me, I would have to way the pros and cons of the situation. If some guy kills my wife and kids (I have none yet, but just suppose) then the choice is clear. But if a family member is beaten or otherwise attacked but survives, I have to weigh the chance of going to jail for taking revenge against the chance of punishing the transgression and not getting caught.

I sure do love revenge movies though.

Never Considered myself a gangster just an angry kid.
I am still torn about what I did. I beat him with a Club ( The Rod you use to lock your steering wheel with).
Anyhow I am 31 now and I try to justify what I did because of what he did when I was a kid.
Though I can't help but feeling guilty sometimes.

As For the T.S. People will judge you if you do something but I sort of know what it is to be in your position.

Mr. Sinister:

Whereas I think you might have done better to attack him without the weapon, you still did good to avenge your dad for the wrong this guy did to him.

I salute your bravery for dealing with your problems on your terms.

If your grandmother were able to speak to you at this very moment- what would she advise you to do ? What would she want you to do ? I think she would want you to live your life to it's fullest potential without hate/revenge poisoning your soul. Her worldly pain is gone and she is at peace. Nothing you do will bring her back.

If you go after that soldier and kill him....you will have become him in essence.

If you do go after him....do it legally. A soldier who has killed a civilian (by the means you described ) is guilty of a war crime. There are legal channels you can pursue.....and I hope that is the path you take......
