As I said, I would recommend nothing less than a GeForce 7800 GS. Go with a 256MB version of either of the following, just make sure it's AGP: 7800 GS, 7800 GT, 7900 GS, 7900 GT, 7950 GT. I usually buy hardware from Newegg or TigerDirect since they have some of the better online prices. Also, since you're in the Bay Area, I'd also check out a Fry's Electronics store. I think they have something up there and their sale prices on weekends are near unbeatable.

well I just tried the CoH demo and it works for what I have right now but I have to tune the settings to low so the graphics/effects suck

At least you've got it running. How smooth is it when you move the mouse around? It can be a pretty demanding game since it does slow down on my system, albeit not much.

its fine unless you use the mouse to hold and drag, make the box to select multiple units/squads then it gets slow, that's what I noticed so far.

can anyone get the requirements to run it at max settings?

I've only played the demo, but I play it in pretty high settings, not max, and it can slow down a bit. Here are my specs:

ECS C51GM-M motherboard
AMD X2 5600+ CPU
2GB DDR2-800 RAM
512MB GeForce 7950 GT KO
Maxtor 300GB 16MB buffer PATA hard drive

My computer has both Windows XP and Vista installed, but I installed the game in Vista since the games I play look and run better on it than XP.
