Bungie Game Reveal Blocked By Publisher

I knew developers and publishers were holding back, looks like we'll have to wait for GDC, TGS, etc.

Bungie: Bungie Game Reveal Blocked By Publisher

There's been all kinds of stuff going on over at Bungie this week. Talk of new game announcements, of plumbers, of Master Chief-less Halo games. Today, the madness continues, with a letter posted on the front page of the developer's website. Signed by Harold Ryan, Bungie's president, it says that the team were planning on revealing a new game at E3 this week, but their "plans were just changed by our publisher", so they won't be showing anything. Bummer.

Maybe it's a next gen Marathon game?

Bungie probably has a few projects going on.

just read this at 1up

Quote:
Could Bungie be announcing multiplatform development considering it's now somewhat freed from its Microsoft ties? Could Bungie be working on a game for a different publisher (since it didn't mention Microsoft by name in its statement)? [Ed's note: Bungie has clarified that it was indeed Microsoft]. Were there legal issues that prevented Bungie from being able to announce a new product?
Interesting stuff

Interesting stuff
Microsoft has the first option to either secure the next Bungie project or deny it, so Bungie is not as free as many people believe.

Is that definitley right? I hadn't heard that. If thats the case then surely there is no way they'd let Bungie slip

Yeah, they have complete ownership of the Halo brand and first dibs on any Bungie project. If they decide to pass on a project, another developer would pick it up and have it go multi-plat.
