When I applied for my first bouncing job, I walked into an club in Hollywood and asked one of the bouncers how to apply for a job here. He called the head of security down and I talked to him for a minute or two before he told me he was really busy, but he would like to talk to me again later. He asked for my name and number and said he would call me in a few days.
Almost a week and a half went by before he called me and asked if I was still interested. I said I was, and so he said for me to come down for an official interview Monday afternoon. During the interview, he asked if I had my Guard Card, Gun Card, or any previous experience. I told him I did not have my Guard Card or Gun Card, and had zero experience in nightclub security. However, I was really interested in working in nightclubs and was really motivated to learn how it works. I told him that he was getting a quality employee that would show up to work everyday, on time, and have a positive attitude.
He asked me questions about random situations that might occur in the club, and how I would deal with them. I answered him truthfully and with confidence, even though I had no idea what the "right" answers were. After the interview, he said he would think about it and would call in a week or so. Over two weeks went by before he called me and said I was hired.
