That look pretty good. I'm going to check it out.

Sticky this thread, please. I have some of those apps.
AVG Anti-Rootkit is an application used to detect and remove rootkits. Rootkits are used to hide the presence of a malicious object like trojans or keyloggers on your computer. If a threat uses rootkit technology to hide itself it is very hard to find the malware on your PC. AVG Anti-Rootkit gives you the power to find and delete the rootkit and to uncover the threat the rootkit is hiding.

Thanks for posting the VLC Media Player link. I used to have this on my other computer (a friend put in on there) and I couldn't remember what it was called until now.

I use a bunch of the apps on your list.
And honestly, I have photoshop, but 95% of the time I use GIMP because it is easier to use and for almost anything it is just as good as Photoshop.

Good thread. I wanted to point out most of these and many more apps can be found at http://sourceforge.net/.

Hey thanks Titan416!! I switched to a Mac recently and have been looking for a Word type program without any luck. You just saved me a lot of time and money.
Do you know of an application to watch WMV files on my Mac?

I use Flip4Mac to watch WMV on my mac. Runs pretty good. It works on most vids, but there are a few that it doesn't work with. Better than having someone with a PC convert a vid to Quicktime MOV for you.

http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/
Eraser is another good one, if you have "sensitive" info on your PC, when you delete something it doesnt actually remove it from your hard drive until something is written over it, so the data (Pr0n) can still be accessed by law enforcement, or whoever else knows how to find it. Eraser will write 0s over the free space, up to 32 passes. I believe 7 is the standard used by the Government, so it basically destroys all the crap you have deleted.
