Beretta 92 9mm or Glock 9x19

The conceal carry thread persuaded me to go ahead and get a handgun.

Which of these do you prefer? I've fired a lot of rifles, a few handguns, and a Beretta 9mm once, but never a Glock, so I can't really compare it. From what I've read though, I really like it. It's weight, simplicity of use, and ease to clean = A+. The only thing I dislike is the absence of a traditional safety switch. It seems a little more dangerous for those people who carry a gun on their person daily. Thoughts?

I've only fired the Beretta (one of my best friend owns one), but he and his dad have fired the Glok, too. They're both licensed carriers.

They told me the Glok has more kick and stopping power, but the Beretta is better for accuracy.

On their advice: Beretta.

The two guns he's talking about fire the same exact rounds, 9x19mm Luger Parabellum. Ergo, they have the same exact "stopping power". The Baretta, being a heavy chunky piece of shit, has more mass to absorb the recoil, so less "kick" I suppose.

Not trying to be a smart ass, in fact struggling not to be, but if your friend and his dad don't know this, they don't know a whole hell of a lot about firearms. And the Baretta 92F is not accurate at all, while the Glock 19 is. I can hit a steel plate (man sized) semi-reliably at 100 meters with my Glock. I also went to a pistol course where most of us were able to do that, first time trying it. I also have a Baretta, it gathers dust in my dad's room.

Luba-which model glock? 17? Glocks come in a range of sizes and calibers, almost every one of them is easier to conceal than a 92f. Are you dead set on a 9?

Madmick-why would one 9mm have better stopping power than another?

Neither of them comes close to the 9mm Parabellum. It's for war!

I'll see your parabellum and raise you a luger, Erwin Rommel's round of choice. It's pretty much the Chuck Lidell of bullets.
