This has more to do with it than just ending my relationship. She already gives me up 5 days a week to train and basketball on Sunday's without complaining, and I know how much harder it will be once we have kids which won't be for atleast another three or four years. I would like to have a place to live and yes I would like to keep the relationship going. This doesn't have as much to do with her birthday as it does how much money it costs.

It is about money and timing. They go hand in hand. The birthday is not a huge deal, but it is important to her and she wants me here for it. Which I understand. I would want her here for my birthday as well. The money is the bigger issue as is the timing of it. I have $395 to go, but that would mean not having money for bills when I get back. Having money for bills is more necessary at this point in my life than spending $395 on a training camp of which there will be the opportunity for many more.

This relationship sounds doomed from the start. You want to spend all your time/money training. She gives you a certain amount of slack to do what you want. Then what do you do? You want to spend even more time and money on it. All the while she sits at home, broke, and borred while you're out having fun. You just have to ask what's more important. Training all the time. Or training some for fun, spending time with her, saving money, and starting a life with her.

why would you train mma
if you're not going to eventually fight
I train tai chi for circulation and flexibility
and do weight training and cardio for health and strength purposes
I got a nice boxing game from training the martial side of tai chi
but it's more defense reasons and it's fun
I don't focus on it
why do all that external work if there is no reward on victory in comp. at the end
if it's a thorn in the side of your girl and she is more important than getting into the ring/octagon whatever
why hassle yourself
there are surely less rigorous and less dangerous ways of staying healthy
