being an adult and broke sucks!

Ok, so I need to rant a little bit here, don't worry it won't be to long. First off, I am 27 am about to get engaged and started training MMA about 4 months ago.

Well my soon to be fiancee's birthday is Sept. 20th and I just got an e-mail from one of my trainers saying there is a training camp up in Minneapolis which is about 6 hours away on the weekend of the 20th-23rd of Sept. with this list of trainers

Greg Nelson - MMA
Sean Sherk - MMA
Nick Thompson - MMA
Jimmy Pedro - Judo for MMA
Nat Mcintyre - Muay Thai
Saul Mitchell -Muay Thai
Gordy Morgan - Greco Roman Wrestling
Mike Seeger - Freestyle Wrestling
Scott Ramsdell - Strength & Conditioning
Dan Piper - Strength & Conditioning

The cost is $395 before the 14th. This is the other thing that sucks, because we just moved into a house a month ago and are broke. So like the title says, it sucks being an adult and being broke, if we still lived in our apartment, and this was on a different weekend your damn right my ass would be in Minneapolis for this camp.

I agree it could be worse, but lets weigh this out here.

Go to camp on girlfriends birthday and be gone for four days. Have an awesome time and train with some of the best.

Consequences--I come home with no money and no longer have a fiancee, all my shit is packed and put on the front porch and I have no place to live. Which in turn means I have to stop training to find a place to live.

Or

I don't go to the camp, I have money, I have my fiancee and a place to live, and I can continue training with the possibility of something like this coming up again.

Like I said this was just a rant because this is right in front of me and I really want to go, but the responsible adult in me is keeping me from going.

Quit whining. You make choices. If you think it's bad now, wait until you have kids. If you'd rather train 100 percent and not have a girlfriend/wife, do that instead. Or, maybe (remote maybe) there is a girl out there for you who would rather see you happy and would be willing to celebrate her birthday before/after the training camp.

Trying........to......keep......from..ma king......OT...response......

This has more to do with it than just ending my relationship. She already gives me up 5 days a week to train and basketball on Sunday's without complaining, and I know how much harder it will be once we have kids which won't be for atleast another three or four years. I would like to have a place to live and yes I would like to keep the relationship going. This doesn't have as much to do with her birthday as it does how much money it costs.

Yep, and the situation will repeat itself many, many times.

Also like I said any other weekend and pretty much any other time besides right after moving into a house and I would be there. What part of this are you guys not getting? This is about the timing of the whole thing, nothing else. Maybe you should re-read the last part of my post where I say "if I still lived in my apartment and any other weekend you bet your ass I would be at this camp."

I think I understood what you were saying. I know where you are coming from. My replies are supposed to be "been there, done that" sort of thing. I am not trying to put you down.

Lots of other training camps bro. If you've got a decent woman who loves you and you now are experiencing the pride of home ownership, be happy. Sounds like things are going extremely well for you!

Props on the engagement!
