How is it workin Security?
Im talking unarmed, armed, rent a cop, and whatnot. You know, entry level security jobs. I'm pretty sure at least some sherdoggers worked security or are currently still doing it. So how is it like? Is it enough to pay rent along with other things? Are the hours steady? Do most security guards get into alot of shit or is it pretty kickback for the most part? Is there any behind the scenes stuff that most people dont know about being a security guard? Or is it pretty much what i see as, lots of walking and staring?
Jw, because i was thinking of just nabbing a Guard Card and just getting employed as a rent a po. But i want to hear some first hand accounts. Might make for an interesting thread also

Im a guard, and ill hit this thread up when I get off work. The hours are long, the pay CAN be good if you stick with shit jobs for a while (you can easily make 100k in the industry if you want to)

Depends on the company and site they put you at. It can be easy or rushed as fuck with no moments of rest. You can get paid well enough to live on or practically min wage.
I worked unarmed security a couple times in the past. 1st time was eeeeasy as fuck but pay was only $9hr. Worked swing shift and was by myself all evening. Just read and chilled.
Second time was the day shift and a little more fast paced but pay was $13hr then moved up to the control center where I dispatched and watched the CCTV, made $14hr doing that. From there moved up to kind of like the office and incident manager of the security department and made $17hr.

Sadly this is very common. Most guards are paid minimum wage because of people like this who set the industry back. Guards on the most part go through very little screening by a company, as long as your not a criminal you can pretty much guarantee yourself a job in security.
A word to the wise though if anyone is looking to try Brinks type work. My cousin who has since moved on to police work worked for an armored car pickup service before and EVERYONE gets robbed within I believe it is 2 or 3 years of service. While it would be fun to try out, getting shot at for other peoples money is not worth it (in my eyes at least)

From what I've heard, boring as hell. Especially those wal-mart security guys. I fuck with them all the time. They chase you around in the parking lot in their little company truck. But they can't follow you off the lot. So it's like the cartoons with the dog on a leash.
