Anyone into bikes? (MTB, BMX, Lowriders, etc)

Anyone?

I used to be die-hard into dirt-riding BMX when I was a young'un. Then my parents refused to keep buying them for me since they'd either get destroyed or stolen. So my teen years were spent on riding mountain bikes in the city. We also used to build low-riders out of scrap bikes.

No matter how fun it was, I always preferred the look, feel and maneuverability of a BMX. I always wished that I could get something with the advantages of a MTB but with the look / feel of a BMX.

Anyway, I want to build myself a bike from rando parts this summer and get back into things, so I've been reading up about crazy concoctions people having been building: 26" BMX bikes from mountain bike frames, flatland freestyle bikes and urban commuters from beach cruisers, etc.

Anyone have any experience building bikes from spare parts? What's the most creative thing you've built?

Used to BMX a lot as a kid. We had a bunch of dirt jumps near the local high school next to a creek, it was called the "teacups" ... first time i went, I got punched and my bike got jacked, I was 7. Good thing it was a bike my friend stole for me.

We used to steal a lot of BMX bikes and swap out the parts or just sell them to kids. My friends backyard was pretty littered with bike's and parts, not as bad as that pic up there though.

I kept doing it until about freshman year, I miss it but I don't miss the injuries.

I always wanted a lowrider bike, I had an old school bike with a banana seat but it was a piece of shit.
