Nothing. Ive had philosophy teachers tell me to switch majors, and I did. You can use it, but you will really need to be able to sell yourself, your talents, and your degrees applicability to the job. Law is good, managerial postions would dig it.

My 2 cents....Consider a pursuit of philosophy like your daily diet, workout regine, and the constant development of your character..make it a given and a constant. Because of the way the working world works, I would reco getting a more practical degree.

Law is a common option. That's what I did.

I'm a philosophy major. There's really no point to it that I can tell, but it's the only thing I halfway enjoy.

Teaching.

Language.

Law.

Being smart.

That's about it.

I feel ya, but from my experience 80% of philo fans are moronic, dogmatic, assholes. Philo is like an art form of thought. And just like painting and other mediums, a lot of people are pompous know-it-alls who run around judging and critiqueing. To butcher that Lincoln quote (I think it was Abe) who said how you can observe a mans true character by giving him power.....Philo is very similiar. Endow a person with reason, clairty, and an analytical precision, then watch what becomes of their character.

Hmm, it makes sense.

Ego is a thing we should avoid within ourselves.

I finish my philo undergrad next year. You can expect your program to have large academic foci on intellectual precision, essays and abstract thought. With a philosophy degree, you can go onto other things such as journalism, law school, and teaching. Or, just be a pain in the ass on random Internet fora.

Take as many logic courses as you can. Thereafter, your arguments will greatly improve and you can be a pain in the ass for conventional thinkers. But, if youre going to be a pain in the ass, have something like Socratic intentions rather than showing off your dick size. know what I mean? ;)
