it works very well, but sometimes you get fake stuff that doesnt work at all. Draw the line, and they wont pass.

Does it kill them? Or is it just a barrier?

Ok, maybe this will not be of much help unless you know about rocks but here it goes...
Years ago back in Chile my house was covered in ants, one day my dad heard that by digging a whole in your backyard and putting this certain rock (is a rock that if you put water in it, it burns and dissolves making a very nasty smell) in the whole the ants will go away. Well he did and it worked, the problem is finding out what type of rock it is, if I talk to my dad I'll ask him.

both. any ant that crawls over the barrier dies in minutes. after that, they no longer approach the chalk, not even close.

Interesting. Is it commercially available? Or is it some weird thing that only pros can get?

A rock that dissolves in water? and makes a smell? hmm.
I'd like to know more.

Not only it dissolves but it burns too, making bubbles and stuff, very fascinating to watch if you are 13.

First, find the main ant trail, then with your finger wipe across the trail perpendicularly creating an intersecting plane. This will erase the chemical trail that they follow to their fort. You will notice the ants go from a drone state, to a confused state of anarchy. Confusion is the key to exterminating the ants. Next, bring out your magnifying glass and finish them off. Watching them smoke will give you a sick sense of satisfaction.
either that or go down to your local hardware store and find some extra strength ant killer. Read the back of the label if you have any pets, to make sure it wont harm them.
