Finding an Apartment Overseas.

Anyone ever done this?

I am searching for an Apartment overseas, I posted an ad on craigslist, but I got a lot of shady replies. Many require 350-700 Euro deposit, what is the safest way to send that kind of money? It seems like at least a few of the responders just want to jack my deposit money, and are offering me amazing apartments for way to cheap.

Anyone ever had to find housing in another country, how did you, or would you go about it securely?

Go there first, stay in a hostel, then have your stuff sent over when you find a place. Maybe pay for a cheap hotel room.

When I moved to Korea, I stayed in a hotel for the first couple of days and had a Realtor take me around. If you are staying long enough you make up the difference in quality of life.

Nah, trying to find a place in Barcelona for my internship.

The hotel idea seems alright, but it kinda creeps me out heading over there without a definite place to stay.
